WHY YOU SHOULD CONSIDER VENT COVERS FOR YOUR HARDWOOD FLOORS

Heat raises and that's one of the reasons many homes have their duct vents from the flooring. Even though this may be perfect for keeping your house warm on a cold winter day, the coated alloy drop-in vent registers installed by the majority of HVAC companies do not do much for your interior decoration -- particularly when placed in that beautiful prefinished wood floor that was just installed.

Luckily, you've got other options -- port registers are provided in numerous styles and species which could complement your hardwood floor. The vents can be found as either flush mount that sits down even with the surface of your hardwood floor or surface mount that may be just be fastened within the duct opening.

Flush Mount Vents

When installing new hardwood floors, flush mount vents should always be considered. These vents provide a more seamless transition and provide an unmatched sense of design. A variety of patterns are available for those seeking something original.

Most common vent sizes are 4" x 12" and 2" x 12". To determine what sizes you need for your timber registers just measure the interior of the ductwork openings. When measuring for flush mount ports, also pay attention to the thickness of your hardwood flooring. It is not uncommon for the metal ductwork of a floor port to be slightly compressed through construction so be certain to push it all the way open before measuring. Bear in mind that you're ordering the dimensions of the opening -- not the overall size of the register.

Next time you do your own hardwood floors check with the local flooring provider or trusted salesperson to find the best prices out there. While these are not cheap it's completely worth it for the compliments you will receive.

Surface Mount Vents (Drop In)

Surface mount vents also called a drop-in port is a great alternative option for replacing your existing installation. These will not require any cutting to be installed, simply replace the old vents with the correct size and shed them in. Firstyou may wish to discover the appropriate wood species and blot in your own hardwood flooring in order to fit them up.
